Will a caregiver try to run my life?

No -- and if they do, call us. Our caregivers are trained to support your independence, not replace it. You decide what you need help with, when, and how. If you want to cook your own breakfast and just need company for the walk to the corner store, that's exactly what we'll do.

Can I meet the caregiver before they start?

Accepted Answer

Always. We arrange a meet-and-greet at your home so you can decide if the personality and chemistry feel right. If they don't, there's no awkwardness -- we simply introduce you to someone else. Many of our clients have been with the same caregiver for years because we take matching seriously.

Question 3

I only need a few hours a week -- is that enough?

Plenty of our clients start with just two or three visits a week -- a morning coffee and walk, help with groceries, or a ride to an appointment. There's no minimum commitment. You can always add more time later if you'd like.

How much does it cost, and is there help with the price?

Accepted Answer

Care starts at $35 per hour for companion visits. If you're 70 or older, the Manitoba Primary Caregiver Tax Credit brings a $35/hour service down to about $35/hour. You can receive this as monthly advance payments rather than waiting for tax season. We walk you through the paperwork -- it takes about 15 minutes.

Do your caregivers speak French?

Oui. We have caregivers who are native French speakers, native English speakers, and many who are fully bilingual. We also have caregivers who speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Spanish, and several other languages. You tell us your preference, and we match accordingly.

What if I don't like my caregiver?

Accepted Answer

Tell us. It happens, and there's no hard feelings. We'll introduce you to someone new within 48 hours. The relationship between you and your caregiver matters more than anything else -- if the fit isn't right, neither of us benefits from pretending it is.

Question 7

Can a caregiver help me get to my appointments?

Accepted Answer

Yes -- transportation is one of our most popular services. Caregivers drive you to medical appointments, the pharmacy, the hairdresser, the synagogue, or wherever you need to go. They accompany you inside if you'd like, or wait in the car if you prefer privacy. It's your call.

What's the difference between this and a retirement residence?

At home, you keep everything -- your furniture, your garden, your cat, your neighborhood, your routine. A residence means adapting to their schedule, their meals, their rules.
